David Brownstead
"David attended the prestigious Art School of Ohio University, in Athens, Ohio, graduating in 1978, Summa Cum Laude, designated ""Most Outstanding Undergraduate"". At the time of his graduation, the Smithsonian Institute listed the art school as one of the twenty best in the United States. His tutelage was under the guidance of Professor Gary Pettigrew and his academic advisor, Dr. Kortlander. While he gained great advantage as an artist in training at his school, David credits much of his successful college career to the guidance of Professors Pettigrew and Kortlander. Professor Pettigrew was especially instrumental to David's life-changing summer spent in Italy, where on scholarship and as a student of Renaissance Art history, he is forever affected by what he saw and experienced in Italian Renaissance art, architecture, history and culture. He enjoys a great friendship with Mr. Pettigrew today, who still is an important influence in his work and career.
David now lives with his two sons, Mark and Daniel, and paints in his home studio in San Diego, CA, where he owns and runs the company that publishes and distributes his work to various frame shops and galleries around the country. "
