Mort Solberg

"Mort Solberg enjoys an enviable life style, living high in the San Bernardino mountains of southern California. His studio home reflects the easygoing nature of this nationally known artist. Although Mort was involved in art as a teenager and pursued art commercially after graduating from high school in Cleveland, Ohio, he did not really begin to paint seriously until he moved to California where, in the early 70's, he decided to commit himself full time to fine art. Communicating through his paintings, Mort expresses a combination of sensitivity and excitement. His unique style has earned him considerable national recognition, including listing in ""Who's Who in America"", """"Who's Who in American Art"", and ""Who's Who in the West"". His work has been purchased by the National Academy of Design. He is a member of the American Watercolor Society, where he has won three major awards. Also a member and past vice president of the National Watercolor Society, he has taken the top award in the Society. ""National competitions are very important,"" says Morten Solberg, ""as they tend to keep me honest with myself. I need to know that I am continually growing as a fine artist and that people not only respond to my work but enjoy and respect what they see in it."""
