Susan Lorello

"Her appreciation of the outdoors and nature color much of the work of Susan Lorello. She credits much of her imagery to the influence of her father, a metal sculptor and her mother, a writer and lover of nature. She was raised in Woodstock, New York during the sixties, and says that her... art is a fusion of my father's artistic eccentricity and my mother's roots in nature. Lorello earned her BFA in printmaking from SUNY at Purchase, New York, and an MA degree from the School of Visual Arts, NYC. Seven years of work with woodcut artist Antonio Frasconi, from South America, and monoprintmaker Mauricio Lasanski have done much to enrich her vision and skills. She prides herself on her ability to work in many mediums and has even spent time in her creative life as a make-up artist for the New York City and the Metropolitan operas. Although she has traveled extensively, studying and exhibiting her work in the avant-garde of Europe and New York, she is never far from the outdoors and can just as easily be found inspecting sunken druid menhirs, sailing the North Atlantic, or joining a group of friends to whitewater raft... any river possible."
