"Noted American Artist and Professor of Art at Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, Tennessee. Recipient Outstanding Faculty Award, Tennessee Tech University. The only female artist to have been invited by the United States Secretary of the Navy to record her impressions of the Vietnam War for historical purposes which resulted in a major contribution of paintings now in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Combat Art Collection, Washington, D.C. Among many other invitational assignments, Trella was at Cape Kennedy for the Apollo 7 Space launch, the work resulting in a cover reproduction of her painting in the United States Naval Institute Proceedings Magazine. Other assignments as a Navy combat artist included the Naval Air Stations, Cecil Field, Florida; Submarine Base, New London, Connecticut; U.S. Naval Base, Charleston, South Carolina, and others. Trella is also a member of the United States Coast Guard Art Program, Washington, D.C., with a recent assignment on board the U.S. Coast Guard cutter, Kickapoo, Vicksburg, Mississippi."
